The Study Program of English Literature (SPEL), Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB), held a progress report to monitor and evaluate the Kampus Merdeka Grant Program through the Zoom platform on Tuesday (12/1/2020) at 1.30 p.m. This event was hosted by Istiqomah Wulandari as the moderator and attended by several lecturers and students from batch 2016 to 2019. The speaker of this evaluation was Isti Purwaningtyas, M.Pd., the Head of the SPEL FCS UB.
The discussions between lecturers and students from various batches revolved around the problems of the study program and interactions related to suggestions and criticism by students and lecturers, such as the output of Journalism courses that can be used as portfolios, discussion topics during thesis writing, or writing literary works for final assignments, plagiarism, and many more.
Furthermore, the speaker also conveyed the introduction of stakeholder needs or skills such as comprehensive language skills, connections, case studies, critical thinking, and introduction to technology related to the learning process. So, the study program feels the need to compile a curriculum that suits the requirement’s standard that is expected to apply at work.
The expected profiles of SPEL graduate students include humanists, intellectuals, creatives, and professionals. The faculty also has a desire to be able to continue sending students to the scope outside FCS UB through exchange programs, internships, and research projects.
Due to the Kampus Merdeka Program, the SPEL planned development prospects include submission of international accreditation (AQAS) in 2021, collaboration in the academic and research fields, and the Brawijaya Literacy Program, which is a promotion of the characteristics of the SPEL for the language and literature literacy movement. Program Studi (PS) Sastra Inggris, Fakultas Ilmu Budaya (FIB) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) mengadakan laporan kemajuan dalam rangka monitoring dan evaluasi program hibah kampus merdeka melalui platform Zoom pada Selasa (1/12/2020) pukul 13.30 WIB. Acara ini dipandu oleh Istiqomah Wulandari selaku moderator dan dihadiri oleh beberapa dosen serta mahasiswa dari angkatan 2016 sampai 2019. Pemateri dari evaluasi ini adalah Isti Purwaningtyas, M.Pd., Ketua PS Sastra Inggris.
Diskusi antara dosen dengan mahasiswa dari berbagai angkatan berkisar pada permasalahan PS dan interaksi terkait saran dan kritik oleh mahasiswa dan dosen. Seperti mata kuliah Jurnalistik dengan output yang dapat dijadikan portofolio, topik pembahasan selama penulisan skripsi atau penulisan karya sastra sebagai tugas akhir, plagiasi, dan lain-lain.
Selain itu, pemateri juga menyampaikan mengenai pengenalan kebutuhan stakeholders atau skill seperti keterampilan bahasa yang luas, koneksi, studi kasus, critical thinking, dan pengenalan teknologi yang berhubungan dengan proses pembelajaran. Sehingga PS merasa perlu untuk menyusun kurikulum sesuai dengan standar kebutuhan yang diperkirakan akan berlaku di dunia kerja.
Profil lulusan mahasiswa PS Sastra Inggris yang diharapkan diantaranya adalah humanis, intelektual, kreatif serta profesional. Fakultas juga berkeinginan untuk dapat terus mengirim mahasiswa ke lingkungan luar FIB UB melalui program students exchange, KKN atau magang serta proyek penelitian.
Adanya program kampus merdeka menginspirasi PS merencanakan prospek pengembangan: pengajuan akreditasi internasional (AQAS) pada tahun 2021, kerjasama dalam bidang akademik dan riset, serta Brawijaya Literacy Program yang merupakan sebuah promosi ciri khas PS Sastra Inggris untuk gerakan literasi bahasa dan sastra.
