Reading Enthusiasts Circle Indonesia or REC Indonesia held the 14th Temu Karya Peminat Baca or often called TPB, on Sunday (12/27/2020) at 3.30 p.m. through the Zoom platform. TPB #14 was the Reunion Edition of English Literature, Universitas Brawijaya Alumni. REC Indonesia has the aim of presenting a networking session among the alumni of the Study Program of English Literature (SPEL) Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) which was packaged in a book discussion. This event was attended by around 30 participants hosted by Nadia Lasari, M.A.
REC Indonesia also invited three alumni of the SPEL FCS UB as the speakers, namely M. Suluh Jati, M.A., Ulwan Fakhri N., M.Ikom., and Sulistya Ningrum, M.App.Ling. The event was opened with a remark by Gilang Maulana, who is also an alumnus of SPEL FCS UB and also the Executive Director of REC Indonesia.
There was a speech by M. Suluh Jati, M.A., as the Chief of the SPEL Alumni Association, which explained what IKASI (English Literature Alumni Association) is and some IKASI work programs.
The first speaker was Ulwan Fakhri N., M.Ikom. In his presentation entitled ‘Baca Pecahkan Biar Pecah Dong’ he discussed the book ‘Pecahkan’, a book which was the result of collaboration by Ulwan with Pandji Pragiwaksono, a well-known stand-up comedian. Ulwan said that “Pecahkan” is telling about how to learn stand-up comedy, how to practice being a comedian. This book also explains some of the Indonesian stand-up comedy industries.
The second speaker was Sulistya Ningrum, M.App.Ling. She discussed the book ‘The Sea Speaks His Name’ by Leila S. Chudori. This novel is a translation of the novel ‘Laut Bercerita‘, the work of the same author. Sulistya discussed the contents of the novel and some facts related to the novel. In her presentation, she said that the novelist researched for five years on several sources before writing the novel.

Reading Enthusiasts Circle Indonesia atau REC Indonesia mengadakan Temu Karya Peminat Baca, atau sering disebut TPB, yang ke-14 pada Minggu (27/12/2020) pukul 15.30 WIB melalui media Zoom. TPB #14 diberi judul Reunion Edition of English Literature, Universitas Brawijaya Alumni. REC Indonesia memiliki tujuan untuk menghadirkan sesi jejaring antar alumni Program Studi (PS) Sastra Inggris Fakultas Ilmu Budaya (FIB) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) yang dikemas dalam kegiatan diskusi buku serta berbagi ilmu dan pengalaman. Acara ini dihadiri oleh sekitar 30 peserta dan dipandu oleh Nadia Lasari, M.A.
Selain moderator, REC Indonesia juga mengundang tiga alumni PS Sastra Inggris FIB UB sebagai pembicara, yaitu M. Suluh Jati, M.A., Ulwan Fakhri N., M.Ikom., dan Sulistya Ningrum, M.App.Ling. Acara dibuka dengan sambutan oleh Gilang Maulana, yang juga alumni PS Sastra Inggris FIB UB sekaligus Executive Director REC Indonesia.
Selanjutnya, sambutan oleh M. Suluh Jati, M.A. sebagai Ketua Ikatan Alumni Sastra Inggris UB. Ia memberikan penjelasan tentang apa itu IKASI (Ikatan Alumni Sastra Inggris) dan beberapa program kerja IKASI.
Pembicara pertama adalah Ulwan Fakhri N., M.Ikom. Dalam presentasinya yang berjudul ‘Baca Pecahkan Biar Pecah Dong’, ia mendiskusikan buku ‘Pecahkan’, yaitu buku hasil kolaborasi Ulwan bersama Pandji Pragiwaksono, seorang stand-up comedian ternama. Ulwan menyampaikan bahwa ‘Pecahkan’ bercerita tentang bagaimana caranya belajar stand-up comedy, melatih imajinasi seorang komedian, dan menjelaskan beberapa industri stand-up comedy Indonesia.
Narasumber kedua adalah Sulistya Ningrum, M.App.Ling. Ia mendiskusikan buku ‘The Sea Speaks His Name’ karya Leila S. Chudori. Novel ini adalah terjemahan dari novel ‘Laut Bercerita’, karya dari penulis yang sama. Sulistya membahas isi novel dan fakta yang berhubungan dengan novel. Dalam presentasinya, ia bercerita bahwa sang penulis novel melakukan riset selama lima tahun terhadap beberapa narasumber sebelum menulis novel tersebut.
