Cercle des Etudiants du Français (CEF) or French Language and Literature Student Association, Faculty of Cultural Studies Universitas Brawijaya (FCS UB) successfully held the 11th “Bon Courage !!” (BC) on Saturday (11/3/2018). This time, BC took the theme La Belle Époque.

BC is an annual French-language competition held by French Language and Literature Student Association targeting High School students in East Java. BC is held to build the students’ spirit to dream and to be optimistic. The purpose of BC is to prove the existence of French Language and Literature Study Program FCS UB as well as to be a medium of creativity for students.

Located in Building A FCS UB, BC 11 was attended by around 150 High School students in East Java as the participants of the competition. The event was opened at 10 a.m. with a number of welcoming remarks by the Head of France Language and Literature Study Program, Ms. Rosana Hariyanti, M.A., Chairperson of French Language and Literature Student Association, Syifa Sarah Salsabila, and Chief Executive of BC 11, Gilang Rizky Pradana.

The event was continued by the competition consisting of quiz, poetry reading, storytelling, vocal group and fashion shows.

At 1 p.m., the event was continued by a talk show about DELF delivered by Dr. Roosi Rusmawati, M.Sc. followed by such competitions as quizzes, poetry reading, storytelling, vocal group and fashion show which are attended by the participants from 5 to 20 years old.

At 4 p.m., the event was continued by the awards for the winners from each competition. The General Champion was SMA Negeri 1 Pandaan. At 6 p.m., at the boulevard of Building A FCS UB, the BC 11 night event was opened for public and was enlivened with a food bazaar stand. The celebration was opened by Santé’s performance, followed by a stand-up comedy performance, Couteau Noir theater, and jazz music performed by Luxury Era, Antrokustik, Titik Sandar, and ICAD and friends.

The enthusiasm from the visitors as well as the euphoria of the jazz-nuanced evening event had closed this BC 11 event successfully. Hopefully, French Language and Literature Student Association can manage Bon Courage routinely every year, be more successful, and be able to introduce French language learning in the society.
