Study Program of Japanese Literature (SPJL), Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) held a guest lecture and workshop in Translation II courses with the theme Being a Reliable Interpreter and Translator guided by Esther Risma Purba, M.Si., and Santi Andayani, M.A. The event took place on Saturday (11/28/2020) at 9 a.m. through the Zoom Meeting platform attended by approximately 90 participants.

The speaker at this event was Nur Astuty Wahidin, a reliable translator with more than 20 years of experience. She also has many works of fiction in the form of novels and short stories.

This event was divided into a guest lecture and a workshop. The guest lecture began with an explanation of the types of translations and subtitles. It was followed by the second material about the preparation and opportunities as an interpreter and translator. In the third material, the speakers provided tips for starting a career as a translator.

After the first session ended, the event was continued with the workshop for the 5th-semester students of SPJL in the translation courses. This session discussed the translation results by several students and additional comments by Nur Astuty Wahidin.

The purpose of this event is to provide students with good translation skills. It is hoped that students can improve their knowledge and skills in translation techniques, read a lot, follow trends, and the latest news. [DSM/DTS/MSH/PR FCS][:]
